36. Wedding Wednesday

Since I wasn´t able to blog yesterday due to the wedding, I thought I just might give you yesterday´s wedding, cause a lot of you guys demanded to see more yesterday on facebook.

Here you go with Seval&Engin´s epic civil wedding in Aschaffenburg. This groom has just got swagga.

Da es  mir gestern nicht möglich war zu bloggen, hab ich gedacht ich geb euch heute direkt die Hochzeit von gestern, da etliche von euch noch mehr sehn wollten.

Hier ist Seval&Engin´s super stylische Standesamtliche Hochzeit in Aschaffenburg.

After the dinner we went to their place, where they had the muslim ceremony at their flat.

Taking the next step…

I´ve had a lot of these questions at weddings lately “So which camera do you shoot? It must take amazing pictures, cause it´s pretty expensive!!!” Me laughing my sox off inside, replying, actually it´s only a 950€ camera. Shooting at that point with a nikon d7000 and everytime they looked at me, with a mouthopen face, saying, but you do this for a living right. Me laughing again, this time out loud, answering “Indeed I do”.

This article today has nothing to do with pictures, well actually yes, but It´s not about a client or a wedding!

At every workshop I gave up until now, there were a few participants with better, faster and more expensive camera´s, so I asked into the the group, why are you here today?
Some of them replied, to learn something new, to learn something about marketing. Others there again replied with, to get to know my camera better. That´s where I was shocked.
Some of them just had daddy or mummy or their job finance them their fancy expensive camera, but had no clue how to use it.

So I encouraged them not to get more gear, or a better camera, more to use what they have and beat the heck out of their gear, so they know what it´ll do in extreme situations, or how they can handle extrem situations!!

It´s not about the gear you own, it´s about how you own your gear!! 

Hitting my 3rd wedding season this year I thought it would be nice to upgrade my camera, cause I think I know my gear good enough, so I prudly present my new family member,
the Nikon D800!

35. Wedding Wednesday

I´ve known Erika&Domi for a few years now and I was so happy to shoot their wedding, especially as they told me how their wedding was gonna be. Loved everything about the ideas they had.
Specially the “button”-idea.

Giving them a little time for themselves, just befor the ceremony! :-)

I love recommendation weddings, cause they show you that the client was happy.
Same here with Bianca&Max´s wedding, as Annika&Marcel recommended them in one of germanys biggest bridal forums brautpunkt.
She was one of the most nervous brides I had, even though she was so relaxed in the morning. :-)


This wedding I just went back to oldschool with the dancepictures and started using the pop-up flash.

33. Wedding Wednesday

Melanie&Patrick´s namibia-desert-kalahari-wedding was just out of the league from any other civil wedding I´ve shot up until now.
Just saying yes to each other at this location was so beautiful, that I told my girl in the evenning: “Today´s wedding was so gorgeous, that I could imagine doing the same for our civil wedding”…..

I want this view from the toilet everyday!!

So now just lean back and enjoy my namibia destination wedding.

This is how I rocked their wedding…
The next day we arrived at the kookerboom tree forest and I told them, let´s do a short afterweddingshoot here!

32. Wedding Wednesday

Here we go again…. the wedding wednesday marathon starts again, I will try to publish every wednesday a wedding until end of september. If I miss out a day, don´t be mad at me, cause wednesday´s is actually my free day. :-) So perhaps It´ll be tuesday or thursday, when I´ll blog….

It was such an honour for me to be a part of Johannes Fenn´s gorgeous chinese destination wedding to Sanya (Hainan). Jessica&Tianli, just knew how to do a very special wedding, more in an american style, than in a chinese style. Jess always said, don´t see us as typical chinese, more as chinese-looking-americans!

On the date of the arrival at the mandarin oriental on sanya, we we´re blown away by the beauty of this hotel. We just loved doing their engagementsession at and around the hotel, just getting to know them and getting them used to the camera.

Big thanks again to Johannes for getting me on board for this stunning wedding.
I´ll be heading over to his place this afternoon, we´ll be doing a slideshow of our trip for our girls. :-)

The next day we showed them 20 of our best pictures at the preperation of their wedding and they just loved them. Specially the last ones. “We love the fact that we look naked on the last ones”, was just a great sentence to hear from a bridal couple… :-)
After switching from a “western” dress to the “chinese” and then into a “party” dress was just a real new thing to me, but I really love new things. :-D
The next day we shot their sweet afterweddingshoot…

Verlobungsshooting in der Schweiz…

Seit langem mal wieder am bloggen, nachdem meine 5-Wöchige Weltreise vorbei ist und nun der deutsche Hochzeitsmarathon gestartet hat.

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich auf Facebook diskutiert, welches Shooting ihr zuerst sehene wollt, die Entscheidung fiel dann auf China&Namibia, jedoch hab ich gedacht das wäre unfair meinen Paaren gegenüber. Nun hab ich gedacht, einfach der Reihe nach.

Sooo und nicht anders muss es aussehn, wenn sich 2 Personen lieben, es war so schön Andrea&Edwin´s Verlobungsshooting in der Schweiz zu machen und die Liebe zwischen den Beiden zu beachten. Ich freu mich umso mehr ihre Hochzeit ablichten zu können, jedoch hat sich diese bezüglich des Oktoberfests um ein Jahr verschoben….
Also müsst ihr euch einfach gedulden bis zu ihrer richtigen Hochzeit am Starnbergersee…

Finally back home and starting my blogmarathon, after my 5 weeks of destination weddings.

It was so much fun travelling for those 2 weddings, but at the end I was also happy to be back home again. :-) I asked you guys last week, which one of these shoots, switzerland, china or namibia I should publish first… but then I thought that would be unfair to the other couples, so I´ll just publish them after the dates they were taken.

This swiss couple was just amazing, it was so much fun seeing the love they had between each other. I was super excited to finally shoot they´re wedding, but then they had to move their wedding date, to next year, due to the octoberfest bookings. All the hotels were booked out for their guests. So you´ll just have to wait for their final wedding pics… :-)

Last august I was able to travel for Lilly&Jason´s wedding to NY. On the last day of my trip I had the chance to shoot
Adam Shenk, a great newcomer… check out his work!
Due to the NY-traffic, we only had an half an hour to complete the shoot before I had to leave for my flight.
The post is short just as the shoot. :-)

2012 is the year of changes for my buisness….

2012 is the year of changes for my buisness!!

1. For the ones who noticed, I´ve been posting lately only in english. It was just to much for me, to post in 2 languages. So I thought I just might go with english, thinking international!
If anybody wants it translated, copy+paste the text in google translater to get a clue of what I´m talking about. If that doesn´t work out…. hard luck! :-)

2. I´ve been running a new marketing concept with my bridal couples and it´s been quite successful, more to that theme soon….

3. I´m going to invest into more gear, NOT because I think good gear makes a good photographer, it´s more the decision,
that I need that gear to complete my stile and ideas!
So this is the 1st part of gear I bought this year,
a Nikkor 85mm 1.4f,
why?
I just needed something on long distance with a lot of light!! Specially for the ceremy part at weddings, having something in focus at the back and something totally blurry infront of the camera…
By the way, the shoot of Jess is only shot with the 85mm 1.4f.

That´s it, now I´m gonna finish packing my bags and then I´m off to the airport,
to fly to china!!!!!!!! So excited!!
